The Director General stated further that every operator needed to understand that the operating environment had changed. He pointed out that it was in everyone’s interest and for the interest of the music industry for royalties to be paid to rights owners.
He added: “We cannot build a broadcast industry that expects content to be free. Nobody would make good content. It is very embarrassing for the Commission as an institution to note that our broadcasters are not keeping to their side of the agreement.
The highest amount a station is supposed to pay is N2, 000,000 (Two million Naira) per year, while the lowest amount is about N65, 000 (Sixty-Five thousand Naira), per year. This would be sorted out”.
-But wait ooo, has the copyright owners forgotten that the broadcasters are people giving them upper hands for shows/endorsements etc…
?! Anyways sha, lets see how the development proceeds !
